Well to be honest, it's not really about you...

Being a follower of Jesus Christ isn’t simply about adhering to a religious system of beliefs and it isn’t about adding a little spirituality to your life. It’s about a radical and total commitment to Jesus as Savior and Lord. What does it meant to radically follow Jesus? It means that you simultaneously place your complete trust in Jesus as Savior and submit your entire life to Him as Lord. It means that you commit to denying yourself when your will and His will conflicts (Luke 9:23). It means that you commit to glorifying Him in everything that you do (1 Corinthians 10:31). The bottom line is that you give yourself away to Him and now you belong to Jesus (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). To be a follower of Jesus Christ means that your life isn’t your own anymore and it isn’t about you. When you belong to Jesus, it is all about Him. Now don’t get me wrong, following Jesus isn’t about earning your way to Heaven by following rules. We are saved by grace (unmerited favor) through faith (trust) in Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-10), not by our own goodness or good deeds. We also don’t seek to have a delayed gratification. To deny ourselves in the here and now so we can have a great place in Heaven later. So why all the self-denial? Why seek to glorify God in everything? It’s simple really. If you have experienced His forgiveness and grace, then you should prize Him above everything in your life and He will be your great treasure. The truth is that Jesus should be more beautiful to your soul than the pleasures of this world. Living for His glory is more satisfying that living for yourself. It takes seeing and savoring Jesus above everything to make a radical and total commitment to Him. But He is so worth the cost. When you prize Him more than anything, the denial of self won’t be a burden, but a delight. This may sound a little extreme to some people. But if you truly know Jesus, living for yourself doesn’t bring more joy, instead it brings less.

I hope you discover the delight of not living for yourself, but for Christ!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Romans 14:7-8 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's.

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

In Christ, Bro Jason
